DLOD at Patriots Day: Mt. Carmel Veterans Center
Dizzy Doom Kids partners with Comic Books for Troops and the Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center for its Patriots Day event.
On September 11th, 2026, the Digital Lizards of Doom team traveled to Colorado Springs for Patriots Day at the Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center, one of the organizations where Comic Books for Troops placed 20,000 D-LOD books into the hands of military families.
The morning opened with music from the Fort Carson Band while co-writer Dan Brozo and the team walked the grounds, meeting veterans and hearing their stories. Paul Price, Mt. Carmel's director of operations, introduced the group to service members, families, volunteers and community leaders before a ceremony honoring the people and organizations that support them every day.
Creator Gabriel Valentin took the stage to speak about what the story means in this context. "At its heart, Digital Lizards of Doom is a story about unity," he said. "It's about people coming together, even when the world seems determined to pull them apart."
For military families, that idea hits differently. When a parent is deployed, a book can travel with them. A child reads Digital Lizards of Doom at home while their parent reads the same pages thousands of miles away. For a little while, they share the same world, even when they can't be in the same place.
A huge thank you to Comic Books for Troops for partnering with Digital Lizards of Doom and helping put these stories where they matter most. Because no matter how many miles separate a family, they can still share an adventure.
